It’s About Excellence

Black in Canada was created to fill a gap. It exists to shift the collective thinking about who we are and what we contribute to the world.

This is a platform for Black Excellence, and a digital conversation to expand our collective thinking.
When it comes to popular narratives about Black people in Canada, our Excellence is underrepresented. From aerospace engineers to political leaders, there is a world of Excellence being paved by Black Canadians. You will find us, when you look. It is to celebrate and acknowledge this reality that Black In Canada was born.

Black in Canada is a platform for citizens of the world to take an unflinching look into the eyes of Excellence. Feature after feature, blog post after blog post, the new narrative is being told. Join our online community of thousands and let us share the new narrative, together.

Excerpt from A Return to Love
(Popularized by Nelson Mandela)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
