Jalani Morgan is a portrait and lifestyle professional photographer who always tells a complex story with his images. With a focus on editorial portraiture, lifestyle and fashion, Jalani’s start in photography began with him taking a college photography course, and then an apprenticeship with the talented Steve Carty.
Jalani’s passion for creative culture and design feeds his photographic curiosity, garnering him great attention for his commercial and editorial work.Jalani’s playful eye has been nurtured and inspired by his mentors since he first discovered his passion. His work captures the unique subtleties in his subjects, their characters expressed through his easy-going, cheeky style. His photos have appeared in Vervegirl Magazine, Poor But Sexy, Third Way Magazine, Scion Magazine and Music Fashion Magazine. He also does commercial work with H&M, Lanvin for H&M, KitchenAid, Tetley, and has shot Margaret Atwood, Malcolm Gladwell, Sol Guy, Trey Anthony, Tonya Lee Williams, and Grammy Award-winner Chin Injeti, to name a few.
With his rich family history in St.Vincent, Jalani takes great pride and interest in his Vincentian heritage. He recently traveled there and documented the island, and is currently working on a photographic project that will see him back there further highlighting the uniqueness of his roots.
As one of the co-founders and partner of Hermann and Audrey, a Toronto-based photography agency, Jalani works with a diverse team daily to deliver creative results, focusing on commercial photography, motion and contemporary art. Every year, the agency presents a large-scale interactive photography exhibit within the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, one of the largest in the world.
