Kathy Imrie moved to Canada in 1963, but in order to pursue her desire to act, moved to New York in 1969, where she studied acting techniques at the Negro Ensemble Company, Warren Robinson Workshop Studio, and Alvin Ailey Dance Studio.
She has worked in film, TV and onstage and is best known for her role opposite Richard Roundtree in Shaft’s Big Score. Other film and TV credits include: 16 Blocks, All the Good Ones Are Married, Common Ground, Welcome to Africville, Nigel’s Fingerprint, All My Children; and episodes of Da Kink in My Hair, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Soul Food, Night Heat and Street Legal. In New York, she performed onstage at La Mama, Henry Street Playhouse and Lafeyette. Her theatre credits include: Lament for Rastafari, Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, Coups and Calypso, and And the Girls in Their Sunday Dresses.
